Privacy Policy
PRIVACY POLICY
Effective date: August 3, 2026
CareID Alert (“CareID,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides emergency-identification products and services, including CareID Beacon, CareID Card, Digital CareID, CareID Vault, CareID Connect, condition-ready emergency guides, and related customer support.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you visit careidalert.com, place an order, communicate with us, submit emergency-profile information, or use a CareID product or service.
CareID emergency access is designed around the principle: NO APP, NO SUBSCRIPTION, NO LOGIN. A customer account may be optional for shopping or account-management features, but a bystander or first responder does not need an account to view information intentionally made available through a CareID emergency link.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Depending on how you use CareID, we may collect:
A. Contact and identity information
• Purchaser name;
• Recipient or profile-owner name;

• Products, variants, and services purchased;
• Order number and status;
• Payment status;
• Shipping, delivery, return, and support information;

• Medical conditions;
• Allergies;
• Medications;
• Communication needs;
• Cognitive, developmental, mobility, sensory, or behavioral support information;
• Seizure, wandering, non-verbal, or other emergency risks;

Only provide information that is reasonably necessary for the intended emergency purpose.
D. Device and website information
We and Shopify may collect:
• IP address;
• Browser and device type;
• Cookie and similar-technology identifiers;
• Pages viewed and actions taken;
• Referring website;
• Approximate location derived from IP address;
• Cart and checkout activity; and
• Security, error, and performance data.
E. Information collected through CareID access
We may receive limited technical information when a CareID QR code, NFC destination, emergency profile, guide, or access link is opened, such as the time of access, page requested, general device or browser information, and source parameters used to understand how the link was reached.
We do not intentionally use emergency-profile access activity to determine a person’s precise real-time location unless a separate feature is clearly disclosed and affirmatively authorized.
2. SOURCES OF INFORMATION
We may receive information:
• Directly from the purchaser, profile owner, caregiver, parent, guardian, or authorized representative;
• From a recipient when that person communicates with us;
• Automatically from a browser, device, cookies, QR or NFC access, and website technology;
• From Shopify and payment, fraud-prevention, shipping, email, hosting, analytics, and customer-support providers; and
• From public or lawful sources when needed to prevent fraud, protect safety, or comply with law.
3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We may use personal information to:
• Process and fulfill orders;
• Prepare, proof, activate, host, maintain, correct, suspend, replace, or delete CareID products and profiles;
• Display emergency information through a customer-authorized CareID link;
• Communicate about orders, proofs, activation, support, replacements, refunds, and data requests;
• Send transactional emails, gift cards, downloads, and delivery notices;
• Provide condition-ready and community emergency guidance;
• Protect accounts, transactions, products, profiles, and systems from misuse or fraud;
• Diagnose technical problems and improve accessibility, reliability, and usability;
• Maintain records and comply with legal, tax, accounting, safety, and regulatory obligations;
• Enforce our terms and protect the rights, safety, and property of customers, CareID Alert, and others; and
• Send marketing communications when permitted and subject to available opt-out rights.
4. IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT EMERGENCY-PROFILE VISIBILITY
A Personalized CareID is intended to make selected emergency information quickly available when the person may be unable to communicate.
Information placed on a publicly accessible CareID Connect emergency profile may be viewable by anyone who scans the associated QR code, taps the NFC component, receives the access link, sees a shared screenshot, or otherwise obtains the profile URL.
No login may be required to view this information. Although CareID may use technical measures intended to reduce unintended discovery, including search-engine directives or difficult-to-guess links, we cannot guarantee that public emergency-profile information will remain confidential, will not be copied, or will not be shared by another person.
The purchaser or authorized profile manager controls what information is submitted and must balance emergency usefulness against privacy. Do not include Social Security numbers, financial-account information, passwords, complete medical records, or information that is unnecessary for the emergency purpose.
5. AUTHORITY AND CONSENT
By submitting information about another person, you represent that:
• You are that person, or you have appropriate permission or legal authority to provide the information;
• The information is accurate to the best of your knowledge;
• You understand how the selected information will be displayed and accessed; and
• You will notify CareID Alert when information should be corrected, suspended, or deleted.
For a minor or a person who cannot provide consent, information must be submitted by a parent, legal guardian, or other person with appropriate authority.
Submitting consumer health or emergency-profile information requests that CareID collect, use, host, and disclose that information as necessary to provide the CareID product or service requested. Consent may be withdrawn for future processing by contacting us, but withdrawal may require suspension or deletion of the related profile or service.
6. CONSUMER HEALTH DATA PRIVACY NOTICE
This section applies to information that may be treated as “consumer health data” under applicable state law.
Categories collected
CareID may collect the health, medical, allergy, medication, disability, communication, cognitive, developmental, mobility, sensory, behavioral, emergency-risk, caregiver, and related information described in Section 1.C.
Purposes
We collect and use this information only to provide, personalize, maintain, support, secure, or improve the CareID product or service requested; to respond to a customer-authorized support or data request; to protect safety and prevent misuse; or as required by law.
Sources
Consumer health information is ordinarily received directly from the individual, purchaser, parent, guardian, caregiver, or authorized representative. We may also receive it from a device or service when the customer intentionally sends or imports it to CareID.
Categories disclosed or shared
At the customer’s direction, selected emergency-profile information is disclosed to people who access the associated CareID link, QR code, NFC destination, permanent Digital CareID link, or shared profile.
We may also disclose consumer health information to service providers that help us host, secure, maintain, deliver, or support the requested CareID service; to professional advisers bound by confidentiality; or to government authorities when legally required.
Categories of third parties
These may include ecommerce and infrastructure providers, website and profile-hosting providers, email and communications providers, customer-support providers, security providers, professional advisers, and government or legal authorities.
CareID does not sell consumer health data for monetary consideration. CareID does not use consumer health data for targeted advertising.
Consumer rights
Subject to applicable law, a consumer may request:
• Confirmation of whether CareID collects, uses, or shares the consumer’s health data;
• Access to that data;
• Correction of inaccurate data;
• Deletion of the data;
• Withdrawal of consent for future collection or sharing; and
• Review of a refusal of a consumer-health-data request.
Submit a request to support@careidalert.com. We may take reasonable steps to verify identity and authority before acting. An appeal should state “Consumer Health Data Appeal” in the subject line and explain why review is requested.
Withdrawing consent or deleting information may make it impossible to continue providing a personalized emergency profile.
7. HOW WE DISCLOSE INFORMATION
We may disclose information:
• To Shopify, which hosts the ecommerce storefront and processes store, checkout, customer, and order data;
• To payment processors and fraud-prevention providers;
• To carriers and fulfillment providers for physical delivery;
• To email, digital-delivery, website-hosting, profile-hosting, storage, security, analytics, and customer-support providers;
• To professional advisers, insurers, accountants, and legal counsel;
• In connection with a business transfer, financing, reorganization, or sale, subject to applicable law;
• To comply with law, legal process, or a valid government request;
• To protect safety, rights, property, systems, customers, or the public; and
• At the customer’s direction or with the customer’s consent.
CareID does not sell emergency-profile or consumer health information for monetary consideration.
8. SHOPIFY, COOKIES, AND ANALYTICS
Our store is hosted by Shopify. Shopify may process personal information to provide checkout, payments, fraud prevention, customer accounts, analytics, security, and other platform services.
CareID and Shopify may use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the storefront, cart, checkout, account features, preferences, security, and performance. Optional analytics or marketing technologies may also be used subject to applicable consent and opt-out requirements.
Available cookie preferences, data-sharing choices, or opt-out controls may be presented through the storefront or the “Your Privacy Choices” page.
9. DATA RETENTION
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to:
• Provide the product or service;
• Maintain an active emergency profile;
• Complete orders and support requests;
• Keep legally required tax, accounting, transaction, warranty, fraud-prevention, and dispute records; and
• Protect safety, security, and legal rights.
When information is no longer reasonably needed, we may delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it, subject to technical backup cycles and legal requirements.
10. SECURITY
CareID uses reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information.
No website, transmission, storage system, QR code, NFC destination, email, or public access link can be guaranteed completely secure. Customers should limit emergency profiles to information that is useful for the intended emergency purpose.
11. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, withdrawal of consent, or information about certain disclosures.
Send requests to support@careidalert.com. Include enough information to identify the relevant order or profile without sending unnecessary sensitive information by ordinary email.
We may verify identity, relationship, and legal authority before completing a request. Authorized agents may be required to provide proof of authority.
You may also request that CareID suspend public access to an emergency profile while a request is reviewed.
12. MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS
You may unsubscribe from marketing emails through the unsubscribe link in the message or by contacting support@careidalert.com.
Transactional communications concerning an order, proof, activation, security issue, profile, gift card, support request, or legal notice may still be sent when necessary.
13. CHILDREN
CareID products may be purchased for children, but the storefront and profile-submission process are directed to adults.
A parent, legal guardian, or appropriately authorized adult must provide and manage personal or health information for a minor. CareID does not knowingly request that a child independently submit personal health information without appropriate adult involvement.
14. THIRD-PARTY LINKS
CareID pages may link to third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are controlled by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy.
15. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in law, technology, services, or business practices. The revised policy will show a new effective date.
When required, we will provide additional notice or request consent before materially changing how sensitive information is collected, used, or disclosed.
